The 2010 lineup for the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival is still in the process of being announced, but so far rap superstar Jay-Z is among those confirmed for the event.
Jay-Z is joined by artists such as Stevie Wonder, Dave Matthews Band and Kings of Leon. Hov won't be the only Hip Hop artist at the festival, however, as Wale, Kid Cudi, Jay Electronica and Nas (with Damian Marley) will be participating as well.
Bonnaroo, which originated in 2002, takes place annually in Manchester, Tenn. The event is no stranger to having Hip Hop artists perform, as Lupe Fiasco, Kanye West, The Beastie Boys and Snoop Dogg are just a few of the many emcees to headline the festival.
Tickets to Bonnaroo 2010 (June 10-13) can be purchased at www.bonnaroo.com.
The buzz around How to Make it in America has, in some ways, centered around one of its actors famous for things other than acting. In fact, the show has garnered a label deeming it the New York version of Entourage, in some circles, due to the involvement of Scott Mescudi, better known to the music community as Kid Cudi. Cudi, however, isn't the lone star of the show. America also stars Bryan Greenberg, Luis Guzman and Victor Rasuk.
Still, Cudi has teamed up with DJ Green Lantern and Broke Mogul to release the How to Make it in America The Mixtape. The tape also features Jadakiss, Sheek, Styles P, Lupe Fiasco, Kenna and Aloe Blacc.
For now, fans can watch the entire first episode of the series, courtesy of HBO on YouTube. Those expecting to see Cudi all over this episode may be disappointed however, since he is not a highlight of it. Instead, the singer/emcee has very limited time on camera.
The episode, which will air February 14, can be seen below.
Rapper Lil Wayne will soon begin sentencing following an incident that involved the rapper being caught with a loaded gun in 2007. He will appear in front of a judge for his formal sentencing and he is then expected to turn himself in some time today.
Wayne is expected to serve a year in prison as a result of criminal possession of a weapon charges, but he may be able to serve only eight months if he can maintain good behavior while in prison.
In a video that was posted earlier today Lil Wayne said his farewell and also gave thanks to his closest fans.
“I’m out this bitch,” said Lil Wayne in his video. “To all my fans, my real fans, I really, really, really truly love you. I love you with all of me, for real. I’ll probably be loving everything else because I love you so much. Thank you from the bottom [of my heart]. Do not forget about me ’cause I will forever think about you, and I cannot wait for you to see me again. I’m out.”
In the video, the 27-year-old rapper also briefly touched on Sunday night’s Super Bowl and his lack of computer know-how.
Lil Wayne’s year-long sentence will be served at New York’s Riker’s Island.
Judge Charles H. Solomon has postponed Lil Wayne’s sentencing so the Grammy award winning rapper can have dental surgery in Miami. As DX and various other news sources reported earlier, Wayne was scheduled to be formally sentenced and to begin his sentence today.
After entering the courtroom at 2 p.m., Wayne’s lawyer, Stacey Richman, informed the judge that Cash Money’s flagship artist was suffering from a cracked tooth. A request was sent in to the Manhattan DIstrict Attorney’s Office to postpone the sentencing until February 25. The surgery requires a week to 10 days to recover from, so Judge Solomon chose March 2 instead.
“I dont want this to get pushed back anymore,” Judge Solomon said. “This is the last adjournment.”
The fully reunited Bone Thugs-N-Harmony group has been working on Uni5: The World's Enemy, their first release on Warner Brothers Records. After several dates initially posted for late 2009 release, the Cleveland and Columbus, Ohio veteran stars opted to push the return into spring.
Having hosted a weekend chat with fans on their BoneThugsNHarmony.com site, the group revealed some details regarding Uni5, and what fans can expect.
Firstly, the group refuted reports that the work will be a double-disc collection. Although as a group and solo-wise, the group long favored the 2CD, this will remain a single album. Although dates have pushed back in 2010, the group told fans that they are done recording, and fans can expect Uni5 on April 20. To prove that, the group's first video will release to the public next week, although members would not reveal which song. They had already shot a video to "See Me Shine" and released "Gangsta's Glory" to the web in 2010. Strangely though, the group confirmed "Meet Me In The Sky" to be a second single, with a video in production next month.
While Uni5 presently has no features, longtime fans of the group will be pleased to know that a bulk of the production is handled by career-long Bone Thugs-N-Harmony producer DJ U-Neek, who also worked extensively with Ruthless Records artists in the early '90s.
Lastly, Layzie and Krayzie Bone confirmed that a Bone Brothers 4 independent release can also be expected for 2010.
